How has studying published authors changed/improved your writing?
I have always been a major fan of Maya Angelou and my Writers Seminar opened up the world of poetry for me. Specifically, how she manages to encompass an entire story within her writing. I think that through studying her work I have managed to intertwine aspects of stories into my writing. An example of this can be found here: https://ephemerallove.edublogs.org/2017/05/21/when-we-two/
Are you glad you did your writer? Who different would you consider? Why?
Maya Angelou is the only writer I could think of doing for my Writers Seminar because some of my earliest memories I can remember my mom saying ” Be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud” which is a Maya Angelou quote, as a result of this, I have always had an affinity towards Maya Angelou’s work. Take a peek at my emulation of Maya Angelou’s “Still I Rise”:

What genres have interested you the most?
Poetry! I have been the most interested in poetry because I have grown the most in poetry because I have been reading a lot of it. Specifically, Rupi Kaur and Maya Angelou. I think that I am interested in poetry the most because I love the simplistic beauty of it.
What did your learn from the writers? Inspirations?
I was inspired the most by Maya Angelou and F.Scott Fitzgerald because I already admired them the most. I learned, from the writers, that beauty lies in simplicity and that one can use their own experiences in their writing.
Do you intend to read more of a writer? Which?
- I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings – Maya Angelou
- This Side of Paradise – F. Scott Fitzgerald
